Japanese Christian Words

Dear Brother and Sister in Christ,

I hope you’re settling in well and enjoying the beginning of your ALTing journey in Japan. It’s a wonderful opportunity not only to explore a new culture but also to share Christ’s love in your new community. As you learn the language, I’ve included a list of basic Christian terms in Japanese to help you get more familiar. I also encourage you to take walks around your neighborhood, visit local churches, and connect with the JET Christian Fellowship (non-JET participants are welcome too!). Surrounding yourself with fellow believers can strengthen your faith and provide much-needed support. If you enjoy music, I recommend listening to Night de Light, a Christian J-pop band popular among young adults. It’s a great way to build your vocabulary and be encouraged spiritually.
